Caught ya!

Remember way back, when I mentioned that our cat, Note, was one di fferent kitty? Heidi Awbrey even went so far as to suggest he was "experiment 627". (Remember Lilo and Stitch ?) Well, my friends, I have some photographic proof of our kitty's craziness. He's very quick to act normal again when the camera turns on (sneaky kitty), but I finally caught him in the act! Note loves to jump on/climb up Trevor and get a free ride around the house. Notice his dangling legs. Do your cats love to be sacks of potatoes? I didn't think so. Here he is taking a rest...on Trevor's head. Here's Note trying to...change a light bulb...hmm... Whatcha lookin' at, kitty? (Trevor is restraining the furmeister from playing with the new additions to our family....) Three baby Buff Orpington chickies! Poor Note has been going CRAZY trying to get at (i.e. play/eat/bite/pouce on) these little cuties. Note: Aisling, you really don't want to play on the computer, do you? So, ...

It's Sprung

SPRING! Evidence: #1. Our good friends, the Schulzes, in Chemnitz, Germany, let us know they now have bunny babies! #2. Baby chickies! (Need I say more?) #3. Note's continual longing for the outside world. What you can't see in this picture is Note's tail wagging playfully as he watches all of the lizards and squirrels play outside. Also, look at our nice green grass. #4. A mother opossum gave birth to 6 babies yesterday afternoon in our borrowed catch-and-release trap (thank you, Chris and Dixie!) Sorry, I don't have any pictures. We had camera difficulties yesterday. Opossums are bad things to have in your yard. They dig under your housing foundation and cause big problems. They eat your chickens (if they are small enough...we lost Sweetheart to the opossum family living under our shed.) We're trying to relocate them to a nice sugarcane field across the river. So far, mom and 6 baby opossums have been relocated. Now we're trying to "coax" the dad...

Aisling's Photography

Thank goodness for digital cameras! My little girl, now a tween (as she constantly corrects me when I call her a teen) loves to take pictures of things (or people, as she calls them) she loves. Take, for instance, the following pictures of Note. One day, Aisling set-up her own studio in her bedroom, then tried to coax Note to play along as a model. These pictures, she reasoned with the kitty, were important for posterity (even though he's neutered.) Note was a good sport for a while (He's not very photogenic...sorry about the scary looking glint in his eyes), and Aisling got some pretty fun pictures of him with a silvery-starred lilac background and a chinese jade tree (representing Note's Siamese ancestry, of course.) But then, he'd had enough of pictures. All the stress from posing "just right" tired him out, so he retired to the couch for a nice long nap. I love my kiddies (or kitties...either one. You pick).

TAXES

Did a thrill or a chill run down your spine when you read that word? Does anyone else out there get excited about tax season like I do? Lately, I've been so immersed in the tax code that I can't sleep at night (this could either be a good thing or a bad thing...) I'm studying for my Enrolled Agent's license from the IRS. As dreary and crazy as that might sound to you, it really excites me! Along with my diverse training and educational background, the added tax understanding really makes it easy to help other people. And it feels really good to help others. Anyway, I thought it was only fair to let you know why I've been absent from the blogging world. If you need me, I'll be pensively and joyfully wading through trusts and estates, partnerships, and S corporations tax laws. I'm saving regular corporations for last. Let me know if any of you need any help with taxes!
