Tagged-- ABCs about Me

A--Attached or Single: Very attached.

B--Best friend: Only one?

C--Cake or Pie: I really like both, but I mostly crave cake.

D--Day of Choice: Wednesday by default. Monday and Friday have a "rushed and crazy" feeling connected with them (being the beginning and ending of the school and business week.) Tuesday and Thursday are the recovery from or beginning of the busy Monday and Friday. Saturday is spent hurriedly preparing for Sunday, and Sunday is not nearly as restful as it should be in Primary.

E--Essential Item(s): A good computer, high-speed internet access, and a printer all working together in beautiful, high-tech harmony.

F--Favorite Color: Blue (turquoise)

G--Greatest Accomplishment: Staying married through the first five years and working through the problems instead of running away from them.

H--Hometown: Hmmm...I grew up and spent most of my adult life in Utah, but now live in Louisiana. I consider anywhere my husband and daughter are as my hometown.

I--Indulgences: Buying new books, watching 4+ hour-long period dramas, reading into the wee hours of the night

J--January or July: In Utah, definitely July. In Louisiana, definitely January.

K--Kids: One incredibly awesome, intelligent, beautiful little girl

L--Life is incomplete without: My family, learning, and laughter

M--Marriage Date: October 1998

N--Number of Siblings: 2; one older sister, and one older brother

O--Oranges or Apples: Oranges (December through March); Apples (April through November)

P--Phobias or fears: large crowds and heights; having to give a talk in Sacrament meeting (I've done it. It just completely scares me.)

Q--Quotes: All's fair in love and war. There's the quick and the hungry. (Trevor says this often at mealtimes while stealing food off of our plates.)

R--Reason to Smile: Listening to my daughter talk in her sleep and then listening to my sleeping husband reply back to her.

S--Season: Autumn. Ah, the cooler air, less humidity (than Summer), and relatively dry (for Louisana) weather (not as many rain storms.)

T--Tag 5 Friends: Heidi, LaChelle, Sarah, Megan, and Kate.

U--Unknown fact about me: The back of my head is flat. (Thank goodness for my thick, dark hair!) As a baby in Korea, I was strapped to a board on someone's back, thus, my flattened head. (This is what I was told...)

V--Very favorite store: Currently Albertson's. It's clean, the cashiers are friendly and helpful (most of the time), and there are hardly ever any crowds.

W--Worst habit: Biting my fingernails

X--X-ray or Ultra Sound: Neither? Either one means I'm at the hospital or the doctor's office.

Y--Your favorite food: Mexican food and sushi (not necessarily in the same meal...)

Z--Zodiac: Pisces

You're still biting your nails?? And I'm totally a cake person too. If we were still being wined and dined by suppliers I would insist we go to "Nothing Bundt Cakes" at every outing - call me next time you're in Utah and I'll introduce you to the best cake in the world!! My how I miss being wined and dined - without the wine of course! :> So how's the sushi there? I would imagine you could get fresh fish - but you're in the south sooooo...

Ok, I'll play. Have a great Christmas!!!

ps Tiff had a baby boy in July and I saw him last night - really cute! And Lacy is joining the Navy - wow, huh? :>

The Great Annual Birthday Gift Hunt

Please allow me to introduce you to a (first generation) Wright birthday tradition.  Would you like a little history? When you have only one child, there's a tendency to spoil them, even by accident. I noticed this the first few Christmases after Aisling was born. While looking at our Christmas tree, I couldn't help but notice the "bare" space beneath it--the beautiful tree skirt was almost in full view except for a few brightly wrapped presents. Comparing this view to what we imagine a Christmas tree scene should look like (i.e. LOTS of presents and almost NO view of the tree skirt because of the overflowing amount of gifts-Have you watched any Christmas movies at all?) made me want to run to my nearest shopping center and buy things like a crazy woman on a shopping spree.  Luckily, my good sense and logic won out, and I started looking for other more reasonable and viable alternatives.  Does my child really need to have 20,001 gifts under the tree just so ...

25 Things

Okay...so I've been tagged several times on Facebook and I've been absent from the blogging world for almost a month. I'm really sorry. I'll play now, but I can't guarantee next week or even tomorrow. 1. When I'm feeling down, I hide-out in my home. No blogging, no talking to friends, very few calls to family, little to no socialization (only the most necessary interaction happens. i.e. church callings and/or when a very close friend realizes that I'm on a downward spiral and decides I need to get out of the house at all costs.) 2. While barricaded in my home, I tend to either read a lot of fiction (remember, I'm trying to "get away" from the real world) and/or start-continue-finish medium to big project(s) in an effort to boost my spirits. 3. For the last two to three weeks, I have taken apart the master bathroom, and now I'm attempting to put it back together. What does that entail? Removing the toilet, taking apart all of the cabinet d...

Southern Summer Saturday

Which activity would you choose to do on a bright, sunny, 95 degree (with 90% humidity) Saturday in Southern Louisiana? A. Drive two hours north to Alexandria and take a 4-hour IRS exam. B. Drive two hours north to Alexandria and visit one of my favorite zoos. Reluctantly, I chose option A while Trevor, Aisling, and Alex (we have my nephew for the summer!) happily selected option B. ***NEWS FLASH*** I CAN NOW RECLAIM MY LIFE! I passed all three tax exams (May 7th, May 30th, and June 13th) and I'm mailing my Enrolled Agent application today. Oh, happy day! My part is done, and now I'm just waiting on the IRS (and we all know how efficient and quickly they handle things, right?...uh...right.) They'll do a background check, check all of my personal tax returns and payments, past tax work, etc. and get back to me within 60-300 days (?!?!?!) The speed of the government always amazes me. But, back to my happy place...my part is done! Yippee!!!!! Thank you, and good night!*** In...
