Oh, the joy of Chinese fortune cookies! Trevor was the lucky person that happened upon this little gem one night after our family finished eating at China Town (...a Chinese restaurant...in town.) We all laughed really hard because we'd never seen a fortune so...generous and outright presumptuous. (Wouldn't you think in this day and age that the fortune cookie company would be more careful so they wouldn't be sued?) Usually, we get fortunes that say, "A penny saved is a penny earned" or " Confucius say: Be good and good luck will follow", but never a promise of this magnitude. I pocketed it, thinking that I would keep it to show friends and family and have another chuckle later on down the road. Afterwards, I promptly forgot all about it.
While cleaning my home, I tend to review my life. I think of my achievements and failures, what I learned from each successful and not-so-successful venture/choice, etc. Today, while cleaning off the kitchen counter and pondering, I came across this generous fortune lying in a pile of papers. Reading it again in my current frame of mind, I realized it's true!
Ultimately, what does everyone on this planet undeniably want? Happiness. And sometimes we don't know the best route to take to find it, but He does. He continually gives us blessings that add to our joy and well-being. Sometimes He tells us "no" because the route we want to take will not lead us to happiness. So, in short, Heavenly Father is continually blessing me with what I want most. And although this was Trevor's fortune, I think he'd agree with me: The fortune cookie didn't lie.

When Darren and I were first dating, we were at my parents' house eating fortune cookies, and mine said, "You will be married in a year." I was also shocked to see a fortune so specific, but luckily, it came true! And my mom still has it in her journal. :)
